It is one of the most active & fully devoted department for the undergraduate & postgraduate teaching in Delhi NCR involved in continuous research evaluation methods for the latest developments in the Dermatology for under graduation and post-graduation teaching. Institute has the best faculties in the department for caring out teaching as well as various research in the field. Dr. V. K. Garg as head of the department is known national personality who has been a role model in the area of research & academics all over India with more than 200 publications & various awards, he had been ex-head of the department in Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi for many years & is a constant guiding force for many people all over India in the field of dermatology. Under his intellectual leadership, the department is flourishing in both academics as well as in researches. Other faculties including Associate Professor, Assistant Professors & SRs are well qualified for both academic & research activity. Department is involved in regular lectures & seminars. In Santosh Hospital Dermatology OPD ranges from 150 to 200 with all types of cases. Various specialty Clinics for Vitiligo, Psoriasis, Connective tissue disorders, Leprosy & STDs are carried out every week. We have 40 bedded IPD with all facilities including a side lab with all stains for diagnosis of various fungal infection, slit skin smear for leprosy bacilli, gram staining for bacterial infection, Tzank smear for viral infections. Department has a fully equipped Minor OT for caring out various dermatosurgeries daily involving Radiofrequency Ablation, electrocautery for warts & mole, manual derma abrasion for acne scar, iontophoresis for hyperhidrosis, cryogen for cryosurgeries, chemical cautry (TCA) for molluscum infection & chemical peeling for melasma. We also do various specialized dermatosurgery procedures like Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy for Acne scars & Hair loss, Vitiligo surgeries. Department has various Lasers for hair removal, scar resurfacing & for treating various hyperpigmented lesions like nevus & melasma. PUVA chamber for the phototherapy in cases of Vitiligo & Psoriasis. Joining for higher studies in the department of Skin & VD in Santosh medical college & Hospital will introduce to higher standards of academic & research attitude that is indispensable for excelling in the field of Dermatology.
